Course Description
Welcome to the A1 German Language Programme, an ideal starting point for those with little or no knowledge of the German language. This introductory course is designed to help you understand and use simple, everyday expressions and sentences that relate to basic needs. Whether you’re planning to visit Germany, interact with German-speaking people, or simply want to begin learning a new language, this course will provide you with the skills to introduce yourself, ask and answer simple questions, and engage in basic conversations.
The course focuses on practical language skills, so you’ll gain the confidence to communicate in a variety of everyday situations. With a friendly and interactive approach, we guide you through foundational vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation in a way that’s easy to follow.
Course Outline
Module 1: Introduction to German
- Greetings and farewells
- Introducing yourself and others
- Asking and answering simple personal questions
- Basic numbers, days, and months
Module 2: Basic Vocabulary and Expressions
- Common nouns: family, home, food, and everyday items
- Basic adjectives and opposites
- Expressing likes and dislikes
- Simple questions for everyday interactions
Module 3: Everyday Communication
- Asking for directions
- Ordering food and drinks
- Shopping vocabulary and simple transactions
- Understanding and responding to basic instructions
Module 4: Grammar Fundamentals
- Introduction to the verb “sein” (to be) and “haben” (to have)
- Basic sentence structure: Subject-Verb-Object
- Singular and plural forms of nouns
- Personal pronouns
- Definite and indefinite articles (der, die, das, ein, eine)
Module 5: Listening and Speaking Practice
- Understanding simple spoken German
- Practicing simple dialogues
- Responding to questions in basic conversations
- Listening to common phrases and practicing pronunciation
Module 6: Writing Simple Sentences
- Writing short, simple sentences and questions
- Formulating basic descriptions about yourself and others
- Understanding written signs and labels in German
Expected Learning Outcomes
