Course Description
Welcome to the A2 German Language Programme, designed for learners who have some basic knowledge of the German language and wish to build on it. This course is ideal for students who can understand and use simple sentences related to personal information, family, shopping, work, and their immediate environment.
In this course, you will be able to engage in simple, routine situations, where information exchange is straightforward and familiar. We focus on developing your ability to describe your background, education, surroundings, and immediate needs in simple, clear German. Whether you are traveling, working, or living in a German-speaking environment, this course will equip you with the language skills needed for common everyday interactions.
By the end of this course, you will be able to manage basic conversations on a range of familiar topics with greater ease and confidence.
Course Outline
Module 1: Review of A1 and Introduction to A2
- Quick revision of essential A1 vocabulary and grammar
- Introduction to new vocabulary and common expressions at the A2 level
- Building confidence in self-expression and communication
Module 2: Personal Information and Family
- Describing yourself, your family, and friends
- Talking about your background, hobbies, and interests
- Asking and answering questions about personal information
- Learning how to explain relationships, occupations, and life experiences
Module 3: Everyday Situations
- Shopping: Making purchases, asking about prices, and describing products
- Ordering food and drinks in restaurants or cafes
- Giving and understanding directions
- Talking about everyday activities (e.g., routines, hobbies)
Module 4: Work and Study
- Talking about your job, education, and workplace
- Describing tasks and responsibilities at work or school
- Discussing your qualifications and professional experiences
- Asking about others’ jobs and education
Module 5: Around the House and Neighborhood
- Describing your home and living situation
- Talking about rooms, furniture, and appliances
- Giving directions around your house or neighborhood
- Understanding signs, posters, and written instructions
Module 6: Grammar and Sentence Structure
- Expanding on sentence structure: Simple past and present tense
- Using adjectives and adverbs to describe things in more detail
- Talking about past events and experiences
- Question formation for clarification and further details
Module 7: Listening and Speaking Practice
- Engaging in simple, direct exchanges of information on familiar topics
- Practicing listening comprehension through dialogues and exercises
